Artist Statement

Through the mediums of printmaking and soft sculpture, I explore the intricate relationship between organic forms and the concepts of life cycles, growth, decay, and humanity’s interactions with the natural world. Driven by fascination of the cyclical nature of life—the balance between creation and destruction, the inevitability of change, and the inexorable passage of time; the impermanence of both the natural world and human existence perpetually inspires my work, urging me to illustrate these fleeting moments and imbue them with new significance. In my pieces, I seek to evoke a sense of awe and reverence for the complex rhythms of existence.          By illustrating figures enveloped by flora, other symbols of growth and decomposition (either willingly or with resistance) I create visual dichotomies that reflect the tension between life’s proliferation and decay. The illustrative quality of printmaking lends an inviting, familiar tone, reminiscent of folklore or fables come to materialization, while the use of other soft materials introduces a visceral, sometimes repulsive, quality. This interplay of forms and textures amplifies the emotional impact of my work, emphasizing the fragility and complexity of life itself. Ultimately, my art serves as a meditation on the cycles of life, offering a visual contemplation of our place within this ever-changing environment.
